What is a "Band" Anyway?

In report jargon, a "band" is a slice of a report.  For instance, the title of the report that appears at the top of each page is in the "Page Header Band", and the report print date and time and page number that prints at the bottom of the report is in the, you guessed it, "Page Footer Band".  The body of the report is divided up into bands also, and depending on the report, there may be one or more of these bands.  In the table above, when you see the word "Record" shown, this refers to the lowest level of detail on a report - the actual records that are printed, or totaled.  When you see a band name beginning with "1GF", this indicates a "Group Footer" band.  "Group Footer" is the report engine's way of saying "Sub-Totals" and indeed, this is where the sub-totals appear on the report.

The bands shown in the table above were chosen because they will give the best representation of the report in a spreadsheet format.

How To Export Reports in Remote Reporter

After you choose the report you wish to run, choose "Export" when prompted as shown here:

Then, choose the type of export you want - the most common is "Worksheet":

Once you select the Export Type, click the Edit button:

On the next screen, you must enter a "File Name" that the report will be exported to.  The name can be virtually any name you wish.

On this screen is where you choose the "Band" you wish to export.  Refer to the table shown at the top of this page to determine which band to choose for the report you are exporting.

Finally, click the "Export" button and your report is exported to the file name you chose, and you may use either Lotus 123 or Microsoft Excel to open the exported file.
